Providing support to Hidden Heroes

Hidden Heroes, a groundbreaking campaign created by Senator Elizabeth Dole and the Elizabeth Dole Foundation, launched in September 2016. Its mission is to provide critical resources to those caring for wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans. Joining Senator Dole in the initiative are Tom Brokaw, Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, Secretary of Veterans Affairs Robert McDonald and Tom Hanks, who is campaign chair. TAWANI Foundation’s Founder, Colonel Jennifer Pritzker, will serve as vice chair.

Colonel Pritzker also donated $1 million on behalf of TAWANI to help fund key initiatives. These include video public service announcements featuring Hanks. The money also helped develop hiddenheroes.org, the premier online community for military caregivers to share advice, get answers and find resources. In addition, the Hidden Heroes Cities initiative will challenge communities across the nation to organize and provide caregivers the support they need.

Addressing what she hopes to accomplish through the campaign, Senator Dole said, “The Elizabeth Dole Foundation envisions an America where military caregivers are empowered, appreciated and recognized for their service to the nation. Together, we are working towards a future where supporting military caregivers is no longer a cause, but it is part of the culture of our nation.”
