Jennifer Pritzker’s TAWANI Foundation Donates $30K to Chicago Math & Science Academy in Honor of Teacher Appreciation Week

CHICAGO – May 9, 2023 – The TAWANI Foundation announced its commitment of $30,000 to the Chicago Math & Science Academy (CMSA) in support of its robotics team,  technology resources and musical instruments, as well as sponsorship of college and career trips for students. The grant is made in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week which runs from May 8-12, 2023.

Chicago Math & Science Academy was founded in 2004 and is a charter public school that serves 600 students across grades 6-12. CMSA provides its students with an equitable, high-quality education focused on math, engineering, science and technology (STEM) which changes the trajectory of students’ lives. The school’s goal is for students to become bold inquirers, problem solvers and ethical leaders who are skill-ready for post-secondary education to meet the challenges of a competitive global workforce.

“TAWANI Foundation is proud to support Chicago Math & Science Academy in equipping students with essential resources, cutting-edge technology and enriching programs,” said Colonel (IL) Jennifer N. Pritzker, IL ARNG (Retired), founder of TAWANI Foundation. “By investing in these tools and resources, we are helping to enhance the learning experience for each student and support dedicated teachers at this incredible institution.”

The grant will be paid in two installments of $15,000. The TAWANI Foundation will also match any private cash donations received by CMSA for student programs, up to $30,000, over a period of one year.

“At CMSA, all our fundraising efforts are mandated by what our teachers need in order for our students to succeed with their education,” said Irene Bermudez, community relations manager at CMSA. “TAWANI Foundation is a valued partner we have worked with for years. Their commitment to supporting our students is vital to the success of our work at CMSA. We are deeply grateful for this partnership and look forward to working together with TAWANI for years to come. We cannot accomplish our mission to change the trajectory of our students’ lives without the Foundation’s support.”
