Lew Collens

Lew Collens, President Emeritus of Illinois Institute of Technology, is a Senior Advisor to the attorneys and clients of Charles E. Dobrusin & Associates.  He was the university's seventh president from 1990 to 2007.  Previously he served 16 years as dean of IIT's Chicago-Kent College of Law.  Prior to joining the academic world he practiced law in Chicago and Washington, D.C. and co-founded Bar/Bri Educational Publishing Company.

Lew currently sits on the boards of Advance Illinois, Auditorium Theater of Roosevelt University, The Civic Federation, J.B. and M.K. Pritzker Family Foundation, Navy Pier, Inc., Rush University, TAWANI Foundation, and WTTW.

Over the course of his career, Lew has served on the boards of more than thirty civic organizations and corporations including: Alion Science and Technology, AMSTED Industries, Colson Group, Dean Foods, American Law Institute, Chicago Bar Foundation, S&C Foundation, Chicago Education Alliance, Partnership for New Communities, Leadership Greater Chicago, Economic Club of Chicago, Association of Independent Technological Universities, National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, The Latin School of Chicago, the Mayor's Council of Technology Advisors, All Cell Technology, The Civic Consulting Alliance, Chicago Council on Science & Technology, and the Illinois Institute of Technology.
